  • Repair User Profile

I installed EDIUS v9.31b4196 (WS) a few days ago and used it a few times with no issues. Today I used it with no issue and closed a project. I opened a new project file and when trying to import from Mync, it wouldn't register to bin. So I closed Edius and reopened. When I reopened, I got a window that you usually get when Edius is freshly installed - asking me to choose a location for project files. Uh oh.

I chose a location and Edius opened with only a test profile. My profile and settings are gone.

I have a profile file backed up (*.eup) but it's a year old.

Is there a way to repair this?

    Fixed.

Luckily, I had an image backup of my C drive (I do a new image every 2 weeks with "Macrium Reflect" and save the last 3 images) and I just browsed the image and overwrote the Folder "User000" to "C:\Users\Zvi\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\EDIUS\9.00\User" and now all is back to normal.

When you moved to Edius 9 did you create a new profile from scratch? If you used the profile from 8.5x, that could be the cause of the issue.

No, since version 9.0 I just install a new version and everything just continues working normally, even without restarting the computer.

When you move to a new version you need to create a new profile specifically for that version. Things are add and removed in each version. Granted it takes time, but I've found it saves me a lot of headaches.
