Edius 6.08 will not link to files

I'm in despair. I've just gone back to some Edius projects I haven't worked on for a few months and although the projects, software and content are all on the same PC, Edius can't find most of the clips. If I right click on a clip in the bin I can see the file properties and path. The path is still the same. If I double click on a lost clip in the bin I can then navigate to the location of the clip, which hasn't changed. When I click on the correct clip Edius won't accept it unless I untick "link only files that perfectly match". If I untick that box I can open the file but then get an error message "The chosen file did not match the original file info". So all my projects are unusable, many many months of work lost. Of course I have backups of the content and projects - but they are just the same, most of the files have become unlinked and won't link again even though I've not changed the PC.

Any advice on fixing this please? I tried the free trial version of Edius 9 to see if an update would fix it but it doesn't.

Possibly a corrupt quicktime install. Re-Install quicktime to see if it fixes the problem.
