I tried an early version.... it's a great concept, but couldn't keep up. Probably due to the software that is used for bckup. I'm still hoping for a version that will work.

I have been using USB2 disks for so long I cannot remember and have had zero trouble with them. Mainly for rough edits while traveling with my laptop to assess if I have a smooth transition to the next destination or missed a subject etc and then down load to the main computer for final edit.
Recently I have so many projects uncompleted due to various problems outside the editing environment I ended up with 1.7 Tera bites on the hard drives with little space for anything else, so I bought one ot the Western Digital "My BOOK" 2T Drives (Raid 0 configuration) that has USB2, Firewire and Firewire 800 inputs.
I have in the past tried Firewire instead of USB2 and found the USB2 to be superior BUT this drive with Firewire 800 is superb.
Be careful though it just so happens my motherboard has native Firewire 800 the new one I have ordered the latest intel has only firewire so I have ordered it with a PCIx card for fire wire 800
    Worth a look at
    Regards Barry

Drobo looks pretty. Haven't used one myself, but I'd be more inclined to use it if it had more than 4 ports and had Gigabit Ethernet, eSATA and/or FireWire in addition to USB2.

There are similar devices available from Infrant (now Netgear) and Lime Technology.

External storage w/ Edius: Droba and raid 0+1?

Has anyone looked at drobo enclosure? Not sure it would be work for video editing.
    Is anyone using raid 0+1?
In the process of adding external storage and just trying to consider "new" things; always afraid I'm going to miss something.
