  • Effect / Filter Need...

Long ago when we were able to post our video samples, there was one video of a wedding which showed the video in black and white and allow an image (flower) within the black and white to show its orginal color. At the time he noted that this was done with Edius. I have the need for this type of effect. A black and white battle field in which I have to show the explosions occuring in color. Can someone explain how this can be accomplished within Edius? Is it possible?

Anton's site has some great info, but I don't think Chrominance has changed all that much and may do the trick.

It may help to add other filters (above Chrominance) to isolate the color range you are after. Usually (slightly) boosting the chroma and contrast. Region filter can be keyframed to isolate an area if need be.

Be prepared to spend way too much time futzing to get it right.

The Canopus website makes the video tutorial available. (http://www.canopus.com/support/tutorials/EDIUS.php) Watch "Chapter 15 - Filters." Mike Downey talks about creating red flowers within a black/white wedding video. On my player, Mike speaks about this at about 5 minutes into the tutorial.

              Effect / Filter Need...

To all, thank you.... The effect was a hit ... This was a National Guard commercial which I re-edited. The original take was to fake for my taste, showing the Red Coats and the Minutemen in color. I changed the take to black and white showing the minutemen running through the field while the explosions are in color. A real drastic change but effective. Thanks again, To all have a happy new year...

Is this available for viewing online somewhere? I'd like to see it.
