Go straight. No intermediate steps required.

If you have 4.0, 4.54 requires that you have 4.0 Installed. So I recommend that you completely uninstall 3.6 first, wipe out the canopus\edius folder from Program Files...then install 4.0, then 4.54 (the latest from the site).

New Edius shipments should have 4.5x already, but if you don't have it you need to go to 4.0 first.

Sorry. Perhaps I recall incorrectly, but I could swear I had 3.5 installed, ordered the 4.5 upgrade, and just followed the installation instructions which took me right to 4.5. Hope this didn't mislead you jimstamos. Of course I didn't have 4.0 so maybe this is not in conflict with STORMDAVE's post.

Yeah, if you have a 4.5 disc, it will probably not require a previous install of 4.x as it is a "standalone" disc.

Many users have 4.0 discs, ones that came with their NX etc. Since 4.5 is a free upgrade to 4.0, GV had to release it as an update that required a previous install of 4.x to be present. I believe Brandon explained it once as to why 4.5x cannot be a "standalone installer" when they put it up on the download page. It has something to do with licensing issues with Dolby etc.
