For those on the fence on ProDAD they're offering 20% off until the end of the year... great products and service. (staying on Edius topic, yes, they work well in Edius)

    Dear proDAD users,

The end of 2007 is swiftly approaching.

2007 was an extraordinary year for all of us on the proDAD GmbH team. We experienced a clear improvement in our brand value and image, as well as an expansion in our customer base and the number of editing programs supported. And so it is not surprising to see that this success was reflected in increased turnover and profits.

We have only you, our users, to thank for our success. That's why we would like to take this opportunity now to thank you all for your cooperation and the confidence you have shown in us!

The course has already been set for 2008, with plans for new products and services to be offered in the new year. We look forward to receiving your continued support and interest in 2008.

We would like to wish you, your families and all your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2008!

    Your proDAD GmbH team

      Great Post Rusty!

To my surprise ProDAD sent me a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Card a couple of days ago. Plus an email with 20% off their software.

Currently I have Heroglyph, Vitascene, Mercalli plug-ins from ProDAD and very satisfied with all three.

I have to add that ProDAD's Support is Top-Notch one of the best, helped me with issues with software updates that I would get very quickly.

I now am totally dependant on ProDads "Photo Album" effect now that Canopus has canned theirs. If I had the dough id get vitascene. ProDad has been pretty good to me. I also have Heroglyph but havent had the chance to use it much.

Well, their support is a little strange... I have Vitascene, it works good on my X1950 Pro 512mb video card, but I wanted to get some boost, so I got a "new" HD 2900 Pro 1Gb card from Sapphire. It is more powerfull, twice memory etc, so I wanted to see the difference. Well, I saw it.
True that new card has new architecture. It was ok with Edius, but when I started Vitascene, I got a message, recommending me to purchase a "modern card with at least 128mb of memory"...
I was shocked... I have 1Gb onboard videomemory and it asked me for "at least 128mb"??? I wrote a letter to ProDad support, asking them if they are planning for a patch to support new line of videocards. They answered that my videocard SHARES SYSTEM MEMORY...
Interesting thing: Matrox made a new driver to support HD 2900 cards... They understand that the 38xx line of new ATI cards also comes with new architecture...
Asus P8P67, Intel i7 2600K working at 4.50 Ghz, 16Gb Kingston RAM, Windows 7 64bit, 500Gb system drive, 320Gb Data drive and 1TB RAID-0 for AV, Edius NX Express, EVGA nVidia GTX 570 2.5CB DDR5, 750w ALTEC power and some creativity...

Your Sapphire is an awesome cutting edge card, so I have to ask... Are you running Vista? Uh, what am I saying... you're using NX. So why the 4GB Ram? How is XP with the Sapphire?

Maybe your new card expects Vista to do the "patching" for memory... just grasping at straws here.

ProDAD is a tiny company, I'd expect a serious lag in updates trying to keep up with current hardware/OS changes.

              Hi Mike,

How did you install your new card? Did you uninstall your older card's device drivers and boot your system to VGA mode - then remove your older card - plug in the new card - and then install the new card's device drivers?

A lot of people run into grief because they didn't remove the existing card's video drivers.

Please note - just because the card's manufacturer is the same (ATI in this case), you cannot assume the h/w resources will be the same (IRQ, frame buffers, mapped memory range, etc).

Is there a difference in output quality between the full retail versions and the demo downloads of proDAD?

Results from the demos of Mecalli and Vitascene looks degraded.

Is it so, or I'm I just imagining it?

I'm thinking of getting the above and wanted someone else's opinion.

                      Thanks,

The retail downloads will take any software updates the demo will not. The updates do fix quality issues.

Mercalli does adjust for rotation and scaling depending on the correction used, therefore any of these adjustments will soften the picture. The updates did fix images having a soft look on non-adjusted scenes.

Vitascene text does look a bit soft, which I prefer than "razor" sharp text edges that can look bad on some external displays.

Not to sound contrary, but I believe the Demos can be updated.

As is true with other corrective software, you may get better results with incremental filter use. Particularly with Mercalli.
