in 2/3 (but not all) cases, was it a virus scanner (which updates itself automatically)
often Norton, partly Avast and some other...
can you for test, temporary deactivate (or some Norton needs deinstall) your Virenscanner ??

virus scanner inactive...I found the Flexnet licensing (as per EDIUS manual suggestion)service was stopped, so I set it to running on manual, but I have lost the icon for the license manager from the task bar, so I am unable to re activate it. Hope I don't need to uninstall and reinstall. I am running an upgrade version of EDIUS 8.53...
I decided to uninstall MYNC..leaving the license key active and reinstall it again. Worked like a charm. It was the failed upgrade to MYNC that started this madness. License Key is back. All good now.
