MPEG2 import- export/file joining question

I'm using disCapture to import scenes from a clients DVDs as (m2p files). They own the rights to the material. Basically they are asking me to pull some scenes from the DVDs and put them together on another DVD.

Once the chosen scenes are edited on the timeline, what is the best way of exporting the mpeg2, settings wise? The original mpeg2 encoding for these DVDs was done with a very high end encoder and looks awesome. So now I need to re-author the mixed and matched clips back to a new DVD.

The question I have is if Edius is best suited for this task. I would prefer not to have to re-encode the high quality mpeg2's. I know that there are file joining and splitting programs out there. What is the best way of avoiding quality loss before authoring again? I would appreciate anyones experiences/suggestions with this particular situation. Thanks.

I'm using MPEGCraft 3 that comes with the Firecoder board...It has an option to join or cut mpeg files without re-encoding....
I'm not sure about that but you might be able to get the software alone...

You can't. At least, not outside of Japan.

For me, I use Cuttermaran to cut MPEG files without reencoding. I believe it can also support muxing plug-ins to prepare DVD VOB files.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wil look into both programs. I'm sure someone online must sell them.
