  • Edius Workgroup 9: opening problem

Hi, today I'm able to open Edius Workgroup 9 once only. Then if I close it and I click on the Edius shortcut, it doesn't open anymore. The icon is insensitive to clicks. I have to restart the PC and I'm able to open Edius again, but once again.
I unistalled Edius and installed it again but I get the same problem.
    Thanks for some info.

This is a wild shot. Let's replace the shortcut icon.

1.) Move the Edius 9 existing shortcut to the Recycle Bin.

    2.)Now navigate to C drive>Program Files>Grass Valley>Edius 9
and scroll down to the Edius.exe file.

3.) Right click and choose "Create Shortcut." You will probably get a warning that says "Windows can't create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?"

    4.)Say YES.

You will now have a new shortcut on the Desktop. Double click it to see if Edius opens for you. Then close Edius to see if you can double click it to open again.

Do any other programs have the same symptoms?

sounds like an outdated Newblue program is preventing EDIUS.exe from closing

when this happens, close EDIUS.exe in Taskmanager, then it will start again

I think like Anton. When you close it next time, look in Task Manager and see if EDIUS.exe closes or not. If it does not, something us keeping it from closing. I would always suspect New Blue first.

              There's also this thread:
              https://forum.grassvalley.com/forum/...634#post306634

He never responded to this thread as to whether or not he got the version that will install directly into Edius 9 installed. That was today.

He shouldn't have any issue with the latest NB installer for FX3....provided he did uninstall the previous version and then installed the latest.
I'm running that same version on 9.1.

Getting correct information from him is like pulling teeth.

As usual, antons is infallible. Maybe the Pope took my advice. ;) ;)
When Edius is insensitive clicking on its shortcut I see it is still opened on Task Manager. I attach the pic.

Jerry, I have just created a shortcut on the deskop with the same steps you wrote. You always give me very good info but this time I have a different problem. Sure, you are right, "Getting correct information from him is like pulling teeth". I often don't understand cause my poor english. When I understand your advice I follow it slavishly and always. But I sometime don't understand. When you wrote about NewBlue on the other post, I didn't understand which NewBlue files I needed precisely in that link. I'm sorry! But I followed your advice and I unistalled my old NewBlue TotalFX softare from my PC. But right after I installed NewBlue OFX Bridge and it installed also NewBlue Titler Pro for Edius. I restarted my PC and I opened Edius again and I saw everything was installed correctly and I saw also some installed filters on the Edius Tab. I was happy with them, they are sufficient filters for me. I would like to have them but even only with them I got the same problem.
I hope I messed up with NewBlue. I hope I don't have to format again.
I thank you for your suggestions.

Hopefully, you have installed your New Blue products with the latest installers.

Here's what I want to try first. Restart your system and then go to Task Manager and "End Task" for the two entries of the iLink.
                  Corsaid iLink 4.png

Run Edius 9 as before and close it down. Wait 5 seconds and then try to start Edius 9 again.

If it restarts, then the iLink software may be the cause.
                  {I have 3 Corsair watercoolers running currently and not one of them has the iLink connected. I avoid this like the plaque.}

If it doesn't start then you will need to uninstall all of the New Blue plugins and reboot(Instead of uninstalling you could remove each NB plugin from the plugin folder and store elsewhere temporarily).
Now, you have to install each plugin and test Edius to see if it closes with that installed plugin.
If it works, you move to the next NB plugin.

By the way, this is what my Total FX3 Filters folder looks like
                  NBTFX3 filters.png
                  as compared to yours
                  Ulisse's NB Filter folder.png

I think the install may have been bad. Were you running an antivirus while installing the plugins?

Start with turning off the iLink items.

My problem isn't those two entries of the iLink. In fact I got the some problem. I solved my problem only when I moved NewBlueFX folder from Edius 9 plugin folder. Then Edius opened fine for all the time.
Now I'd like to ask 2 questions:
                    1) Is it normal I have 2 Corsair Link (32bit)? Don't it have to be 64bit?
                    2) Yesterday I installed and unistalled NewBlue for 10 times and today I made the same. I don't understand what I have to do precisely with that link:

I think that link confused my ideas. I did every step you wrote but maybe I misunderstood you. Now I write my steps.
I installed my NewBlueFX v3, then I unistalled it. Therefore I installed NewBlueFX from that link: https://newbluefx.zendesk.com/hc/en-...ts-Transitions
I did the download of TotalFX 3 (penultimate link) and I installed it. I did it many times but I don't see any NewBlue file inside Ediud 9 plugin folder and I even don't see any NewBlue writing on the Edius 9 panel (no plugin) and I'm afraid I'm killing Edius with all those missteps.

                      iLINK is 32bit.

So, removing the NB folder and Edius closing properly says there is an issue with one or more of the New Blue files.

Except for the OFX Bridge/TPforEdius9, what New Blue Products do you have installed?

I'm sorry if the communication is difficult.
Removing NB folder, Edius close and open perfectly.
                        I repeat: I installed TotalFX 3 that I downloaded here: https://newbluefx.zendesk.com/hc/en-...ts-Transitions
But I don't see any NewBlue folder inside Edius 9 plugin folder. Then I don't see anything about NewBlue on the Edius 9 panel. It seems I didn't install NewBlue at all.
