  • Importing Prores files from UMP and Edius freezes.

Is there any BM URSA Mini Pro users here that had a problem importing Prores files from URSA Mini Pro after upgrading it to firmware v4.8, v4.9 or v5 in Edius?
I have tested them in Edius 7, Edius 8 WG and Edius 9 WG and all those versions of Edius freezes when I try to import files from UMP after the firmware upgrade to those versions above.
UMP firmware 4.7 and older work with no problems at all with all camera settings the same when testing those newer firmware versions.
When I roll back the firmware 4.7 everything is working just fine.
I have never had any problems in Edius with Prores coming from this camera before, until those new firmware versions.

Yes same Prores issue here. Also tested with Ursa Mini 4.6K EF and Ursa Mini Pro. If Newer firmware as 4.4, Edius 9.1 crashes and Edius 8 does not open files. I have sent question to Edius EMEA support but no andwer yet.

Just a comment and a question : is there an "international professionnel codec" recognize by an association such as SMPTE that permits to each video software to be exported and imported without problem of compatibility.... ?

I guess the short answer is yes. Cineform! Or at least that is I think the intention of SMPTE and Cineform. It is really frustrating when companies mess with codecs and break them in certain NLE software. Even HQX has undergone updates and modifications over the past few years.

NLE developers do however have to choose to support them.

You have to have the codec installed as well as Quicktime(activated) and use the Quicktime interface to export.

I would prefer that it was a native codec option.

If you want to use Cineform in a native situation, export the file to HQX.mov and import it into Resolve. There you can export using Cineform as long as the codec is installed on your system.
