  • Improve video quality of dark faces in the night?

Hi, I use Edius 8 and in my latest documentary I got some dark faces in the night (inside a hut). Those faces are flat and not easily distinguishable. In post-production I increased the brightness and I got better clips but not a lot. Is there a filter or some software to improve those dark faces?
    Thanks for some suggestions.

You need local correction with use of mask.
What should I do precisely? What mask do you mean precisely?
    Look at my pics please.

Double up the track, add "screen" from blend to top layer (key) and adjust top layer opacity for brightness - much cleaner than simply pushing the levels.

        Hello,

place clips one above the other. Use screen blend mode. Apply settings from zip file (import effects settings in Effect window).
Use Neat Video to remove noise. My images without noise reduction...
You can render clips (Shift+Q) apply screen blend mode with YUV Curve
        to double effect.
Better bad pictures than anything else ...

Paul, very good info but I don't know where I can adjust the layer opacity. I put that "screen effect" on the above clip and when I click on "Screen" effect on Info panel a writing shows up "There are no settings for the effect".

That is controlled by the keyer track (turn on the Mix button on the left side of the track header). Screen helps the entire frame, but if you want to learn how to do individual parts of the frame (i.e. faces) do yourself a favor and take the time to go watch some of Matt Scotts keying and color correction tutorials. They are a bit long but it will definitely increase your skills.
