Hi Philip - Tell your wife its an easy mistake to make

Ooops I see you have already blamed yourself!! Now thats what a husband should do!!!

Anyway I use the manfrotto MDEVE range with 503 fluid head with a sony z1 and fx1 these tripods are excellent and very light but not unstable and include in the tripod a very easy 30 degree level system with a spirit level built in

Definitely a PITA, but you'll have it fixed in 10 min.
Actually I took the "fixed" clip I created and synced it from where I was in the edit to the end so half the edit was fixed easily. For the other half I used the sequence idea by just dragging one of the edited clips from the bad camera down from compressed track, stretching it out till the next major cut in time and making a sequence out of it. Drop it in where the original clip was (on a lower track), delete all the clips that were bad from the compressed track and just add short dissolves to the end and beginning of the remaining clips....don't know if that made sense or not but it worked and took about a half hour to fix.

I can't wait to finish this project....first the customer has bugged me since the shoot to get her video by Christmas because the family will be in town. I have busted my tail to get to it and try and get it done. Of course little dumb things keep popping up in this project to slow it down....things like out of level cams, clips disappearing in the catalog process and recaptures needed......Ahh well....the hurrier I go the behinder I get.

    Look at the bogen/manfrotto line.
They are cheap compared to other brands. (good quality)

I am sure you will find something. ( and it will not cost more than you camcorder he he)

She might be up for a tripod like that....she saw a news persons tripod at one job we were working and she said she would take the lady out and I could grab the tripod. I told her that tripod cost more than our cameras but she loved it. It had a ball on the head. I will have to see if they make those in a price point that doesn't break the bank.

Philip I think what STeve was aluding to it to get a ball level tripod and never worry about those legs again.

First, the bad level on the tripod is probably my fault. My wife is my assistant but just gets frustrated with tripods and the 3 legs. I always go up to the balcony and level it for her before a ceremony. In this case I didn't do a good job. :-(....all my fault.

The nested sequence idea is a good one....problem is I am already half into the edit and have been cutting up the ceremony. It was about 1/3 the way through before I realized there was a problem when she zoomed in on something. I figured I would just drop the full clip on the timeline, export to a new HQ file with the fix on it and then rename the files. Edius would open the project with the new file and all would be good....well that didn't work. WHen I got the restore dialog and clicked on the new file (with the old files name on it) it wouldn't restore because the file sizes weren't identical. I even deleted the waveform file thinking they didn't sync and the rebuild would fix it. Oh well..!

I will import the new file and drop it in where I am in the edit and go with it. From there on it will be all good.

Sorry Phillip, there's no substitute for a level camera, and the editor always takes it in the shorts.

You're right about 3dPiP as your fix, layout will not rotate and there is no rotate filter. (Feature request???)

    Hi,
Have you tried the Layout Tool?
right click on the clip and select - Layout Tool, has similar settings to
    3DPinP

    Rotating a clip

I have a clip where the tripod was not quite level. I know I can crop it a little and rotate using 3DPnP. Is there an easier way? This footage is part of a 3 cams shoot and after using multicam to edit I will drop short transistions on all the clips meaning the PnP attributes will get assigned to all my clips after being merged to one track.

I set the clip alone on a track, fixed it and am resaving it but that is timeconsuming as well (33gb of HQ). Is there a filter I am missing that can be tricked into doing it.
Working...
