  • Problem with importing .mfx files into Edius 6 please help

I received.mfx files. I transfered the files to my external drive for editing.
I then went to source browser and can see my removable media Drive A. but I am not able to access the folder where the files are so I can import them into Edius 6. Would someone be so kind to tell or explain to me what I am doing wrong? First time I am dealing with this file format.

    Thank you so much

Have you tried dragging them? it is maybe not the fastest way, but maybe we can read the error.

No need to go through SB for mxf files. Simply double click in the Bin and navigate to the files to bring them in directly.

Here are 3 screen grabs so you can see what I am encountering. I can't access the files from my external hard drive. The mxf files are part of a folder structure similar to the files from the Sony Ex1 camera which I use xdcam clip browser to import just the video into the bin. I am not able to do this with these files.

          Thank you for your help.

I can grab the folder and drag it to the Edius bin from windows explorer, but then it creates multiple folders and identical clips. I need to just have the clips all in one folder. Just goes to show you it's always something......

I know I am doing something wrong, just don't know what that is....
            Daddy are you around?

            Thanks Lauri

while EDIUS is open, in windows explorer, go to the folder that contains the mxf clips, set to detail view, sort by type, select all mxf clips and drag to EDIUS bin

That is not going to work as you see each clip is contained in every folder and I have a total of 600 folders. I think the problem may be that the guy who shot the footage when he transferred to the hard drive he did not transfer the content folder, which is why I can't use source browser to open just the clips.

Either that or I am just plain crazy....:)

ahahhhh, he may have destroyed the folder structure by not giving you the root contents folder

in that case, try this in win explorer:

select the folder that he gave you

in the top right of win explorer search field, type *.mxf and press enter

now you should see 600 mxf clips

select the first and shift click the last, then copy

then paste to EDIUS bin or another folder

if it works, smack his bottom and say that I told you to do so
