  • No Audio from Timeline

I'm not getting any audio from the timeline. There is audio in the video when I play in Sony's Catalyst Browse and other past videos in Windows media player. I also checked recent projects and no audio. I did recently install the DeckLink Mini Monitor not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I even sent the video to final file and it does play but without audio. Not sure what's up any help?

where are the speakers connected and what is the preview device set to in system settings, hardware, preview device

if speakers connected to mobo, preview device needs to be set to Generic OHCI

I re-set the preview device back to generic OHCI and the audio is now working but my DeckLink Mini Monitor is disconnected. Is there a way where I can have audio and my mini monitor working at the same time?

Yes connect the HDMI from the decklink to an amp and connect the speakers to that Amp.
Or use an HDI/ Sdi de-embedder

there are three ways that come to my mind

          1. connect HDMI from BM to TV that has speakers
          2. connect HDMI from BM to HDMI amplifier such as Yamaha and connect HDMI out of Yamaha to TV
          3. connect HDMI out from BM to TV and connect TV optical audio out via optical cable to Stereo Amp that has optical input

Got it. But let me ask you this question. I ticked the generic OHCI box and the audio is now working. I did a test to see if my mini monitor was working on my second monitor and it is showing a picture on my second monitor. But I'm wondering if the DeckLink Mini Monitor is working properly or at its fullest extent because I have the generic OHCI box ticked. What you think?

if you set generic OHCI, the BM Mini Monitor is disabled and does nothing, zero, zilch....

OHCI is software only, therefore any "video out" card will not work sending a signal to an external monitor. Your audio will be processed just like your computer sounds.

Using the Device Preset of a card, means video and audio are routed through the card. Thus you must somehow get the audio signal to your speakers. Many use HDMI out to a tv, then route the audio out of the tv to the speakers (usually through an amp or mixer).

Got it. I guess another way is to go into Preview Device settings and switch them back and forth as needed?

Also, let me ask you this question. This is how I have my BlackMagic Mini Monitor set up. Is this right?

the BM Mini Monitor switches to whatever your project setting is set to, you don't need to do anything in its control panel

                      Got it and Thank you!

Anton, is there a cheap priced amplifier or HDI/ Sdi de-embedder you could recommend? I call B&H yesterday twice and either they're not familiar with the BM mini monitor or what to recommend. I just want to support two cheap Bose companion speakers. Only if you have time of course I know you're swamped.

                      Thanks for always being there!

Thank you for doing that! That's about what I was looking at yesterday but wasn't quite sure if it was right. I always like to go by this group's guidance first.

I plug a decent set of speakers into the TV's headphone socket and that produces good enough sound without an amplifier.

I'm working on it David but I can't seem to get it to work. I connected the speakers to a jack that has a headphone icon on it and also pluged the speakers into another jack underneath but won't work. I called NEC and asked them if this monitor has speakers in it and they said yes but I can't find any speakers or nor is it listed as having speakers. I hate to put out the money for an amplifier and find out later on there is another way. Anyway thanks for chiming in, I do appreciate it!
