  • How to change capture directory?

On the weekend a big project comes up.
I will work with Edius and Liquid and shoot P2. at the same time others bring DVCams and work with AVID. We will all make different programmes in different formats (16:9 DVCam to 4:3 BetaSP).

I will be the "chief of operatiotions" and have 2 problems especially with DV capture:

    1. how do I change the directory into which Edius captures from OHCI? There is a directory which you tell Edius when starting a new project. Will Edius always capture into this one or can I give new ones for every day/camera. Should I change the Master-Directory then? There is nothing in the Capture dialogue.

    2. Files I capture via firewire in Edius do not work in Liquid. I didn´t find anywhere a switch to make it a MSDV instead of CanopusDV (like in the export file dialogue).

    Help appreciated.

EDIUS will capture the footage into a subfolder of the project's folder. So if you need the captured data to go to a specific drive, make sure the project is set to that location first.

Unless I'm terribly mistaken, there is no current method for capturing MSDV from within EDIUS. It will always use the CCDV codec.

Oh ****, I hoped I coulkd use Edius. Now we need to capture in Liquid, so the AVID guys can read the iles. Well, can´t have it all :(

If you use Canopus DV Capture utility rather than Edius you can specify the directory and the MS format rather than Canopus format. IT is the reason I always use DV Capture and not Edius to capture. A well as capturing up to three streams at once. Saves a lot of time. Not sure if this only works if you have Canopus hardware though.

For capturing with 3 streams is one to Canopus hardware and two to OHCI, Scenalyzer will do three streams also if you have a OHCI card that has three addressable ports.
