  • Inverting HSL Qualification

I'm in the 3-Way Color Correction filter and I would like to select a color, let's say an article of clothing, BUT I'd then like to invert the selection and have the action I take affect everything outside that selection.

In a lot of programs you simply click and Invert option. Is there a way to do that within the 3-Way Color Correction filter? Or is this an enhancement request?

Also, is there any way to do an HSL Qualification selection in any other filter besides the 3-Way?

    Thanks.

If you rotate the Hue Ring or type a different Hue Value that will change the whole picture and can be keyframed. If you just want to make the "Red shirt" blue then you use a Chrominance filter.

      "Sin City" Look

Thanks for your response. But that wasn't quite what I was looking for.

      Here's what I'd like:

Let's say I wanted to get the "Sin City" look. I have a character in a red dress. I want, via the HSL Qualification, to select the red dress in the clip, then desaturate everything OUTSIDE of the red dress, only keeping red in the scene.

The simplest way would be to select the red dress via an HSL Qualification, click the Invert option (if there is one), then simply desat everything else.

How can I do that within Edius?

SO do you at least try the suggestion?
If this is not to your liking you can try the Boris red plug-in for EDIUS.

You keep on about HSL qualification. The tool to do the job is Chrominance. It's been in Edius since Vers1 and was in MediaStudioPro5 in 1997. Instead of dismissing it TRY IT!!!!!! As well as Steve's video, Search on Google for Chrominance in Edius...sigh!!!!

No Chance- I'm terrible these days. I only have to sniff the cork and I fall asleep.
Back on Chrominance (before we get in trouble), in those vers 2/3 days it was all SD footage and I dont think we had Regions (laterly using the Mask filter) but will still got some good results. These days it's all a bit Naff as its all been done before except for subtle use like turning Grey skies Blue. August 2005 - Marbella- property shoot. The sky was overcast but was magic'd in post using Chrominance and the client thought I was a genius.... I went back 6 months later and it rained continuously for 2 days, the camera never got out of the bag and the client thought I was a jinx!!!!

yes, rain is a common thing where you live

it is a bit rare here

also note that chrominance in 2017 is still 8bit only

Spain is only an hour away from where you are? or maybe 1.5 hours?
