there are so many badly authored DVD's out there, I guarantee that more than 50% of DVD won't work in Edius after using DVD capture, especially open GOP DVD

to overcome this, open ProCoder or ProCoder Express or Tmpeg4 Xpress in standalone mode and convert the DVD to Canopus DV

I have CanopusProCoder3 and it (for some strange reason) does not have an option to convert DVD to CanopusHQ or Canopus Lossless, Canopus DV is about the only option

even Tmpeg4 Xpress allows me to output Canopus HQ and Canopus Lossless, it can use any codec found on the PC, the same should be true with ProCoder3

Note: when using ProCoder3 to convert DVD to CanopusDV, lip sync will need to be corrected after conversion (especially when source audio is ac3), unlock the audio and slide it along until lip sync is correct

      Settings > Plug-in Settings > MPEG Importer

      Check "Don't use PTS"

      Try again...

I demux DVD's into m2v + .wav/.ac3 and use ProCoder2 to convert to a different file format...works all the time. You will need "AC3Filter" (Google it, it's free) to be able to decode the ac3 files.

I tried demuxing this DVD, using DVD-Lab Pro and DVD Decrypter, both produced an m2v 1 hour long and an audio file 28min long, this was useless

          DVD Decryper created an m2v + vob (instead of m2v + ac3)

however, the vob created was an ac3, I renamed it and it worked, but once again, it was only 28min

there are so many badly encoded and authored DVD's out there, it is not funny

I ended up using analogue component capture from DVD player direct to SP card component input and using Canopus HQ codec, great result and perfect lip sync, I will stick to this method from now on, it avoids all sorts of problems

note: not all DVD's are bad, when I demux a DVD that I created, it works perfect

when I use DiscCapture from a DVD that I created, it works perfect

this is prove that there are many faulty DVD's out there

Yeah, I've gotten nasty DVD's as well, people burning on cheap recorders, with odd frame sizes. I try to demux first, and if it doesn't work, I just capture via FireWire from my Pioneer DVD Recorder.
