I was handed a small half sized selection of DVD's MINI DVD'S from a sony DVD CAM and I was dreadding the thought of real time capture.

Well disc capture did it all in 1/10th of the time BLIMEY that will do for me!
    works a treat.

It rarely gets the love it deserves. :)

(Often it gets blamed for things that are usually fixed by the 'don't use PTS' option in the MPEG Plug-in settings menu)

Are you saying that this should be clicked on or off?

I have tried with PTS on and off and in both cases, I often get this result when trying to open the successfully captured file in EDIUS

However, the file plays perfect in Windows Media Player and PowerDVD

Lots of low end dvd cams don't join the end & start point nicely and will give often a 3 or 4 frame garbage, especially when the camera was switched of during takes.

I frequently edit and make some procoder re-renders of the ugly minbi dvd's and they gave me audio to video sync errors, after I found this issue ,I always use 'split file' at chapter so that you can identify the possible problem areas, and cut them out.

Hope it helps some of you.

              Sorry man,

but i need to go with Anton and the others...there might be cases where the "PTS-setting" is the reason, but i had a lot of tests going on and nothing really worked out, which was really frustrating...!

I cant edit that footage until today, right now i dont see any other solution then getting some tool like "mpeg2avi" and convert it to avi upfront..i would say there is definitly something wrong with the "Disc-capture" in some cases, i am open to be teached different, a.k.a. when it works for me in the end..!

Sorry to be a little pessimistic, but it sounds like it all works fine, as this is not the case, it doesnt give me much hope that it will be fixed in future, when you say that it can be "usually fixed.." -just not my experience...!

I have just captured via disc capture a project I did 3 years ago the client wants changing.

Instead of capturing analogue I thought I would give disc capture a go again

well its captured 22 files from the disc it woould seem each chapter I have put them all on the time line in sequence and the are audio / video sync is fine and the chapters all play seemless?

                No errors or import problems............

Disc Capture saved me last week. The local Hospital had a video that would not play. in a dvd player, but would play in a computer. I tried it it 3 dvd player at my studio. and also tried to make copies on a 3 disc duplicator no luck.so stuck it in my BluRay drive on my Edius Broadcast NX and hit Disc Capture........ Magic. So I placed it in the time line and made a master DVD and then Duplicated 21 copies. I thank the master was a cdvideo.
