    So far so good....:-)
One of the things I do when I have a erratic systems is to remove the memory sticks and clean the contacts with a pencil erraser, in your case reseating the sticks may have wiped the contacts, run memtest for a couple of passes to check for bad sections

    Thats Good news Philip
Memory is much cheaper than a MB
I started to worry as I have just ordered a new editing computer with a GA-X38T-DQ6 MB that I had not noticed had 2 PCIE 16 slots for graphics cards although not SLI and wondered if the old problem was about to surface.
Edius seems or has been so stable except when I misread a post and added Direct X 10 instead of June 2007 DX9 and caused Edius to disappear when ever I tried to apply a Boris effect or transition, thank god for System Restore.

So often it's the RAM, I should have thought about it.

Ok....I have to report back. I tried removing one stick of RAM and no improvement. Still locked up right away. I powered down, swapped sticks or RAM and WOW....no lockups. Of course RT stunk because of only one MB or RAM. So I put the other stick of RAM back in the other slot and so far all is good. I have been editing in a stable environment for a few hours now. I have done probably 20-25 color correction functions and no lockup.

OK....the downloaded driver for the video card didn't do the trick so I am trying the RAM removal to see if we can narrow it down. I have locked it up quickly today twice by using the YUV filter and dragging the top nub of the Y box to the left a little, dragging the bottom nub to the right a little and then grabbing somewhere in between. Each time Edius froze.

It wasn't a full system freeze or Edius Poof. It was just a lockup that CTRL+ALT+DEL fixed.

Yesterday I downloaded the latest driver for the nVidia card. The release notes mentioned some of the fixes were for compatibility problems with SLI. We will see if anything improves. I only had a chance to play with a few clips after the download. I will give it a better test today. The release date on the drivers was Nov 2007 so they are pretty recent.

Turns out a few weeks after I built it NX with the express slot appeared. I don't have NX. We are running straight OHCI.

When you mentioned the problem with SLI does it matter that I am only using one graphics card and not the SLI capabilities. Why did I have no problems until recently. This system has been rock solid for over a year.

I will try downloading an updated driver and directX and see what happens.

It is quite possibly a conflict with another program interfacing with the SLI interface. Once I had fixed the problem I did not bother to go any further and at that time I changed to EDIUS which has been rock solid compared to the others.
I only used ONE card not two, SLI I believe was only brought in for advanced games where multi monitors could be used with the MAX memory available for texture and 3D which we do not need.
I am using the latest motherboard driver from nvideo 6.86 and Graphics driver 163.75, Direct X 9 June 2007 and NO antivirus (Standalone) hope this helps

My MB is a GB K8NXP-9 (no SLI) and no problems.
I dont know why the SLI causes problems but my problem ceased once I opted for a non SLI board, luckily when I changed the board it was to a non SLI, same brand and model but no SLI and all the drivers just worked as they were the same, I now opt for a non SLI each time, similar to you it took an upgrade to bring the problem on in both PPro and MSP

My old P4 2.8Ghz that went out the door a couple of months ago had the nVidia 6600, had zero issues.

Maybe it's some type of conflict...

Most of the time, lockups are caused by system issues..
I noticed in the thread indicated below that some of the people having probs were using the GeForce 6600. I have the GeForce 6600GT as well. Did a graphics card replacement solve the problem for anyone.

My system is AMD X2 4800
    A8N SLI Deluxe MB
    2gb RAM
    10,000rpm sys drive
    GeForce 6600GT Graphics

    Any other specs you need.

it maybe graphics card or driver related

I am using an older card and driver and don't have that problem, but other users have reported it
