  • create half second transition?

I would like to have BOTH a 1 second (default) dissolve in my transitions palette along with a 1/2 second dissolve. So I could have both at my fingertips at all times. Is this possible?

    Thanks,

Quite simply, no. Even if you duplicate the "disolve" transition and change the duration on one, both transitions durations chage.....

        yes, it is possible

preset your default transition to 1/2 second

use the 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 second transition shortcuts for the rest

        Alt+1 = 1 sec trans
        Alt+2 = 2 sec trans
        Alt+3 = 3 sec trans
        Alt+4 = 4 sec trans
        Alt+5 = 5 sec trans

Anton, you r quick...but some others are so slow...I do that all the time, from as early as I can remember.....But I like something in V4...if I am editing say, a 2 cam shoot, main clip on vA1, other on VA2...I will just cut and delete the portion of clip 2 I dont want as I go along...using the PIP on clip 2, ..When I am finished, I would select all the effect section of clip 2, delete the PIP, right click on the effect, and simply choose click 'add to timeline', and it puts the effect on all the pieces at the same time, both 'in' and 'out'...in V3, I had to go back, right click on the first piece, then go to the effect, I like this improvement...no more reselecting, just go straight to the effect

                Hello,

i tried to set the duration from 1 second to 2 seconds on all transitions, i can't find where and i don't know how to do it...

when i put a trsansition on the timeline, i tried also to change the duration to 2 second with alt + 2, does not work... anybody an idea?

                greetings Pat

do not drag the transition, place playhed at cutpoint where transition needs to go and press Alt+2

                    Alt+2 adds a 2 sec transition

you can also preset the default transition duration by right click the dissolve in effects panel, set for video and audio

                      Agreed DD...

                      1. To set a default duration, right click on the transition, select Transition>duration.
                      2. To change a duration on the timeline, you can grab the end of the transition and drag which moves one end, or hold shift and Drag which moves both ends. Or you can right click on the transition and select duration (Alt U).
To save various duration transitions...Drop the transition on the timeline and set the desired duration. Then make user it is highlighted and go to the Information Tab. You will see the name of the duration. Right click and Save as a User Preset. You can go change the duration of the preset and repeat the process to save additional durations.

BTW, the Alt + number only works up to 5 seconds.

                          mmm strange,

i put the timeline cutoutline on the place where i want to place the transition
                          pressed Alt+2, nothing happend...

does it works only with the dissolve or every transition?

i set the time to 2 seconds at the presets...

                          greetings Pat

EDIUS needs to know what is should do. so either the track (header) or a clip which is active in the transition needs to be selected.
