  • Cut and paste

I am sure that this is a very simple thing to do but it's annoying for me because I am having some issues trying to make it work,
I'm trying to cut and paste a clip from V1 to V2 but although I have un-selected V1 and selected V2 , the clip keeps pasting back to V1 instead of pasting to V2.
Any idea what is wrong ?

    Thanks.

Select v2 track again OR drag the clip to v2 holding the CTRL key.

Not sure what to call it but on the far left of the tracks you will see an area that will have a V in it next to track V1. You need to drag that V indicator to any track you wish to be the place where video clips will go. Even color mattes etc. Same goes for the A1/2 in the audio tracks or both V and A1/2 are associated with VA tracks. At the top of this section there are v and a indicators that can get turned off and on too.

A quick method to copy a clip anywhere in the same sequence (TL):
          1. Drag the clip to the new position - dont release the left mousekey
          2. Press and hold the CTRL-key on the keyboard
          3. Release the mouse-key
          4. Release the CTRL-key on the keyboard

NO - I was thinking about the Edius-beginners (who read this thread too) and the fact that the above order of dragging and keypushing is important.

I do agree with Kurt. I run into a ton of people that don't get this because they do it in the wrong order. The usual keyboard shortcut is to press the keys before clicking, but not in this case.

I was going to make that post myself after classes today but I am happy to see someone else jump in.

Hi: I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. English is not my mother tongue and therefore I usually write very tight sentences, which sometimes can be misunderstood.
But PS has formulated nicely what I wanted to express.
                      Regards kurt

Also in other programs you hold ctrl then drag the clip to copy it. In EDIUS you start dragging then hold ctrl.
