OK - sorted :). Looks as if there is pressure against the card to card connector when the case is closed causing it to fail. Now working - thanks again to all for your helpful pointers.

Thanks guys - I appreciate your help with this one.

Do you have it plugged in to the rear of the card or the front (my NX is not Express so nevermind if the Express does not have both).
Plugged into the rear (I'm not using a front bay), into the 4-pin socket on the base board.

I noticed the NX Express has a 6pin on the extension board, does that work for HDV? there is no info on Canopus website that explains the difference between the 6pin on the extension board and 4 pin on base board
I haven't tried it, but the instructions specifically ask not to so I guess I shouldn't :)

Properly connected to the HD Expansion board, the FireWire ports on the NX board are OHCI-compliant. But the HD Expansion board (comes with NX Express, came with NX for HDV, was an option for NX by itself) is required for the FireWire ports to be OHCI-compliant.
I'll check the connections between the two.

    Canopus HQ 1440x1080/50i.

I've noticed that whilst plugged into the NX DV socket there is no windows chime when the deck is switched on, but there is if it is plugged in to the firewire on my sound card - don't know if that is relevant?

Also wondered whether the internal DV connection is necessary for me, whether I could disconnect it and try the firewire on the firecoder card?

Thanks Anton - I have that, and presumably wouldn't be able to capture HDV over OHCI if I hadn't?

Many thanks for the suggestion. I am able to capture from the deck to my OHCI card so I assume that is not the problem.

The NX does show in Windows device manager by the way ;)

Generic HDV capture problem with NX Express

I've just installed a NX Express card. I can capture HDV ok using the firewire to my graphics card, but if I connect using the 4-pin cable from my Sony HDV deck to the main NX board the transport controls are greyed out. If I select the NHX E2-DV preset the transport controls work.

I have connected the cards with the 6 pin and DV cables internally, and the DV cable is connected from the HDV deck to the main board as per the install guide.

    Any ideas please?
Working...
