  • Problems with AAF Export...

I am exploring more and more tests with AAF and i found a very strange Problem..i do edit P2 mxf-files in 720pn.
The projectsettings are fine, but when i try to "Export AAF" i receive this error message: "Failed to export the following Track. Video track 1"

I went through the 30 minute edit to isolate the problem...i finally found 1 clip(that is not different from any other clip in format!) that seems to produce the error-message! When i delete this particular clip from the timeline, i am able to export as AAF like a charme!
The funny thing about this is, that the clip next to the "faulty" one is EXACTLY the same one, but set to a different speed!

I also do have the problem, when trying to export/AAF some specific sequences, Edius would crash each and every time...!(It is P2 in 720pn again...!)
I am really puzzled about that, and id like to help solving this problem(sounds like a bug to me...!)as i spent some time on it allready...!

I do know that i will be very dependend from a working AAF-export (for AE and Nuendo..) so i really do need this working..!

Thanks for listening GV-folks...curious if you heard about that one...!

How are you trying to export?

The normal AAF export, type1 mostly.
But this doesnt really change anything...!

Its not related to the AAF-type i choose, but to something on the timeline that Edius doesnt like...for which reason ever...!

I found out earlyer that this error would appear when i try 2 mix 2 different kind of files or merged sequences with different settings (mostly 720/50i and 72025p..or was it 720/50p?) -i dont perfectly recall it,but this means trouble, so i changed that.

The project i am talking about got several sequences...i can export some without any issues, other will make edius crash, and the one i was talking about before wont show the error message anymore ,when i delete the one specific clip from timeline(as i said, the exact same clip is still on timeline afterwards..but with different speed-settings used...)

      Any ideas?

I haven't done a lot of work with AAF, so I am at a bit of a loss to guess at the specific cause of your problem. However, since the clip works with a speed change, can you you change the bad on to 100.01% or 99.99% and see if it would work?

          Thanks for your reply,

i was thinking the same(unfortunalty i came over that idea after i left the workstation..), so ill definitly go into it and try to change the speed of that specific clip and see what happens..!

I had the chance to play around a little more with AAF-Export in the last days and must admit that i am very pleased, at least with the small tests i did:
          it was all about Sound-work in NUENDO4 , i exported a test-edit from Edius that contained different mxf-files (from HVX200, 720pn/1080p), and .wav files form a sound-device.

Despite the fact that Nuendo would show a waveform, but no sound in the first place(must be a bug, hard to say if its in Nuendo or when exporting from Edius)playing...when you import a totally different file and put it on each and every Track, play it, the other files(AAF-import) will work fine..!

What i used to export was type1, unchanged!

So good luck everyone, i am curious if everything will work fine with P2 and AAF when After Effects is once updated..!

Great to hear that AAF works with P2, I didn't expect that and had to test it for myself - nice.

I've tried exporting AAF to Nuendo with limited success.....Do you find that all you're audio tracks double up? And that fades etc, or any changes whatsoever are not carried accross? only the placement of clips is correct.
When I go out, I wear my EDIUS T-Shirt.

I've tried to export my project through AAF into Nuendo 4. I have used Type 1 preset by default. During import AAF into Nuendo 4 ) AAF was imported as audio tracks only, video track I was needed to import by self, 2) Both audio and video tracks are not synchronized even ones have exactly the same In / Out markers at Nuendo timeline.

What is the best tip to make this happen correctly? Project profile - Generic OHCI HD 50Hz 1440x1080 25p over 50i
