Edius 8 slow to start/burn to disk locks up

Hello all,

I just upgraded to the latest Edius from version 7. Now when I start Edius it literally takes one minute and 40 seconds to start! This is on an i7 laptop that runs Edius great normally. When the program does open it seems to run normal.

Also I can't burn to disk now. Whether an old project or a new project, it tries to start when I click "burn to disk" but after about thirty seconds it tells me that Edius has froze. Any ideas?

was the temp folder empty when you installed the update?

was antivirus disabled when you installed the update?

did you tick directx (important) during the update (by default it is unticked)

What anti-virus software are you using? I saw this exact problem with AVG. Try Avast, it does not seem to do this. I went from over a minute to about twenty seconds with an SSD drive.

Thank you both for the suggestions, I will uninstall and reinstall with Anton's tips. I am using AVG so maybe that is the problem!

I can't remember which version of Edius had an issue with AVG, it's been a while. If that's still the case, you may have to change anti-virus company.
ESET works well with Edius.

Well there is definitely an issue with AVG. This morning I uninstalled AVG as a first step and it fixed both problems! Interestingly enough I've never had a problem with Edius and AVG but definitely did this time.

Did you have the 3 GV folders excluded from AVG?
If not, that could have been the problem.

Jerry, I have not seen that help. AVG is a problem with Edius 8.

Then the OP should get a new anti virus and verify that Windows Defender is completely shut down.
