  • My edius 8 is not able to open MOV files ????Help

    Dear All
I have formatted my PC and installed all necessary programs and also installed edius 8 as normal , but when I tried to open a certain MOV file the edius 8 gives me " failed to open "
    " couldn't open file "
Al thought I was using this the same file several years ago and before formatting my PC this time with edius and it was working well in edius but this time I do not know what happened ?

It is not a video or audio files it is an like animation files for weddings
By the way other quick time files are still working till now just this one
although it was working before one day

The sticky is just one more thing that won't be read. Wait and see.

Totally agree and not for any reason other than anyone who is asking won't understand the heading of the sticky. Remember, there's a number of situations where it has to be switched on and many people won't understand what they're asking for in the first place.

The easiest thing would be to switch the default setting, maybe in the next .update. Not that I personally think that the current option is wrong, after all, GV were only responding to a market concern. But in most situations I would imagine that most Edius users would be just as unaware to the 'so called' QT 'problem' as anyone else doing anything on Windows, as these many similar posts would suggest.

Another thing to bear in mind is that this is all an unforeseen circumstance of the obvious ticking time bomb that was armed as soon as Apple got any footing in the Windows market, many years ago. And as innocuous as a simple media player would appear to be, when an entire industry hooks into it through laziness, stupidity and lack of foresight, this is what happens. This is not a criticism of GV, but the entire industry. Now imagine if/when Apple decide to get malicious? A simple switch in a software menu won't be the solution for an entire industry/platform. Just a thought.

Is your Robot three laws safe?

But at least having a sticky makes it easier to just point people at it when they ask
