Interesting idea. I don't have Resolve installed have Dl'd and will try over the weekend.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you import the project into Resolve and then export out of Resolve as an FCP7XML or an AAF?

Thanks for the info Mike. I'm not in a position to get the company who are based in Monaco to "experiment" until they get it right. Hopefully, I will get a colleague to have a play, with FCP when time permits.
    EDIT
What would be good would be for GV to specify the exact format for the FCPxml from 7 and X. Few of us have the luxury of FCP alongside our Edius machines to be able to do our own tests... although with the Gamut issue with Broadcast maybe that will be a necessity if GV dont offer/license a Gamma correction plugin.

    Does this FCPX article help?

Import and export XML files to transfer details of your libraries, events, projects, and clips between Final Cut Pro for Mac and third-party apps and devices.

Setting Metadata content seems to be critical.

FCP to Davinci 12 also lists some issues and fixes with the process.

This one covers FCP7 into Premiere Pro

http://www.webvideochefs.com A tutorial on how to move your projects from Final Cut 7 using the XML feature and impor them in to Adobe Premier Pro.

This one here covers which XML export revision level is for which FCP version

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

It isn't something I have tried maybe something in that lot is some help, maybe none is, see what you can get out of the links.

    Regards

    Mike

I think I will give up on the original guys, and maybe get a colleague round with his macbook and we can experiment. on the other hand I must just say stuff it and start from scratch.

Well this morning the .fcpxml files were emailed
Neither 7 nor 8 even saw them, as in not even showing up in the folder.
tried changing to .xml and it error-ed ...we tried but fell at the first hurdle.

I don't have FCP X to try, but I doubt it will work from FCP X.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the FCP XML functions in Edius are based on the XML version from FCP 6 and 7. FCP X uses a newer XML version that will not work with softwares that only support the FCP 6 and 7 versions.

    Was that a typo? It seems it's EDL that FCP X doesn't do without a plug-in for $100 https://larryjordan.com/articles/fcpx-create-edls/

    XMLs it does do.

started a topic FCP to Edius via EDL?

    FCP to Edius via EDL?

I have been given a project to "pick up the pieces" that contains source and edit files but also the FCP folders.
If this loads into FCP and an EDL was exported would that get the basic edit into Edius?
Working...
