OK, so it's just not my system?

The MPEG codec is available in other resolutions (i.e.1920x1080i), but I can't capture SD input from BM shuttle at that resolution. So, the only option is GV. As pointed out, it's a good codec, I was just trying to save some files space for unimportant VHS tape archiving.

I only have MPEG available when using resolution formats that aren't useful
e.g. MPEG shows up when resolutions are PAL & 50Hz, or NTSC and 1920x1080. But that doesn't help as tEdius won't capture unless the BM is set to the input format 720x486 59i.

Does it make sense that MPEG is not available at the only format that is useful?

Thanks all for input. I have an issue however.

When I look at the compression settings, the only options I have are Uncompressed, GV HQ, and GV HQX. No MPEG
I wanted to try MPEG per Anton's suggestion, it's not there.
Suggestions on why that codec is not on the list for BM shuttle at 720x480i?

720x480i is DV format, capture to that via firewire

NTSC VHS is 720x486i

I can confirm that mpeg custom and mpeg IMX are missing when selecting NTSC, may be a bug or feature? I will try and find out

they are all there when selecting PAL, see attached

This is the same on my system. MPEG custom is only available for PAL formats.
When working with NTSC, MPEG & IMX are NOT available.
