if you don't need to add still images or export/import mp4, then you don't need to install Quicktime

I will not remove QT anytime soon

Anton, are you saying that this new build has restricted function without Quicktime?

Would be nice to know what still needs QuickTime to work in Edius though

yes, you won't be able to add any stills (other than tga) or QT based mp4 or mov files to timeline

I know Steve Wise said that this was going to be completed in parts, but I think the Release Notes should also explain this.

I think this release is intended for people who are so flipped out about the whole QT Player scare that they removed it and refuse to install it

So, this version will allow installation on a PC that has no QT player installed

So essentially it's a standard Edius but without a 'Quicktime missing' warning when you install it, so if you don't have QT installed then you won't be able to use a lot of files like Jpg's etc that all use QuickTime

Well I still need the full functionality of Edius, so I will use Quicktime but just install the "essentials" as Steve Wise mentioned a few weeks ago.

Yes, the Release Notes will be updated later today, and we will more clearly explain the limited functionality above (Anton is correct).

If you have QT installed for an earlier version of EDIUS you will not loose any functionality. If you uninstall Quicktime you will loose functionality.

Steve Wise has mentioned that we will update the info to reflect the changes.

Yes, that's correct. We hope to have another release in 6-8 weeks' time that will give you back most of the missing functionality. This build really is for when you absolutely have to remove QuickTime for Windows, say in the event of corporate usage for example.
