It will probably be the bug ( I use Edius 7). Now I know I have to handle it as a bug and search for a work around.

That normally means that part of the clip is missing. There was a bug in some version of EDIUS 7 which also caused this display even when the audio was there. It happened very rarely but when it did happen EDIUS tended to crash soon after it appeared.

It was very hard to test since it happened randomly and not very often. I am hoping it was fixed in the last few updates to EDIUS 7, but am not 100% sure. I have never had the problem in EDIUS 8.

What is meant when a part of the audio track of a VA track is shaded. (see attachment). It has something to do with synchronisation problems. But I do not know ho to handle it.
