A beginner having trouble with audio playback

I'm just fumbling around with 4.5...only have a Edius 3 book. I get audio on my monitor speakers when I'm playing a clip, but no audio in my monitor speakers when I playback the time line. What button have a bumped or need to activate?

Have you clicked on the audio mute button on the left hand side of your VA or audio track?

Audio doesn't play back in timeline

Yes I've turned all that on and off, and nothing seems to work. Probably will have to wait until Grass Valley gets back to work after Thanksgiving.

You haven't changed any of the audio channel mapping settings? (view project or sequence settings and choose the audio mapping button)

do you see an audio waveform in the audio part of the clip on the timeline?
