  • Resolution drop down on player window

Hi all, in this video Matt has a drop down to set his player resolution. Can anyone tell me how I can set this up the same way?

Go deeper into the latest features of EDIUS 8.2, with the following video:EDIUS 8.2 Tutorial -- PRIMARY COLOR CORRECTIONhttps://youtu.be/ibIYnt8CtII

    Thanks in advance...

That dropdown is only in the Workgroup version of Edius 8.2.

That is a feature in 8.2 Workgroup. If you have 8.2 Pro I don't think it is available. Someone can correct me if I am wrong though, as I am running Workgroup.

Ahhh I see. I am running 8.2 pro so that's probably why I don't see it.

Does anyone else think this is a crappy feature to hold back from regular Edius Pro users..?

It's standard in Premieres mercury engine and seems like a logical extension to the normal player workflow.. I don't see what makes it Workgroup.

It is the only feature from Workgroup that i would use but certainly not worth paying an extra $700 for.

Kicking myself for missing the initial offer of free upgrade to Workgroup when upgrading to from 7 to Edius 8. Literally missed it by a couple of days.

But at that point none of the features in workgroup were of use to me anyway.. Now however.

Boy, I feel your pain. I was in the hospistal for a month, being treated for cancer. I too just missed the date to get the WorkGroup version. I started with Canopus RexEdit V1 and upgraded each time there was a new version. With all my Co-Pays, $700.00 extra for the WG version, is just too much for me at this time.

it is funny how the video production industry changed over the years

when I started full time in 1985, $700 was peanuts, because an edit controller was like $5000 plus a player and recorder at $15,000 each and $16,000 for a character generator and $32,000 for a decent effects generator, then another $15,000 for a second player in order to do any AB roll editing, and then all the audio gear..............

but at least back then, we made money. I was able to charge $20k plus for a corporate video and nobody complained about paying it

              now customers complain about $2k

Even as a hobby I am not sure $700 is that much these days. When I started with the Fast Video machine I think it cost $7000 to set up in a PC , my Sony cameras were the 2 feeding sources and a Sony SVHS as the recorder controlled by LANC from the Fast Video Machine. Quite an expensive setup for those days as a hobby. In today's dollars that might cover my present PC, all the software and most of my cameras !!! I feel for you guys trying to make a living in a world where technology is resulting in lower and lower costs.

Vegas has had resolution control in preview for as long as I can remember too.

                  difference not comparison guide

I'm right there with you Bob and CoresNZ. I was building my windows 10 machine and missed it (I can do only 1 thing at a time).

At a minimum, GV should include this difference in their comparison guide. I mean, for cryin' out loud, they've got everything else in there.

Or better yet, GV can affirm that the comparison guide is correct, and acknowledge that they simply made a mistake by leaving it out of pro !

                      comparison guide

I see. They ought to move that up under the Comparison Guides heading.

                          accurate comparison guide

Aw come on, Steve, you know what I meant: move the updates comparison guide part of the faq, not the whole faq. :)

I was just trying to point out that, since the edius product page includes a link to a very detailed comparison guide, that guide ought to have the correct info about the feature the OP asked about.

Pointing out discrepancies like this for correction is about the only thing I can contribute to the forum at this point. I'm just trying to improve the accuracy of the forum's information by a minute amount. That's all. I hope no one takes it any other way.
