Is it possible to import EX1 mp4 wrapped files into Edius? Theres a couple of posted files here http://www.bolanski.com/ex/home/ex1-test-shots/ but even though I have XDCAM EX clip browser in which they play, Edius says cannot open -

Do you just transfer files from the SXS memory card to the hard drive and use them on the Edius timeline?
How well does Edius handle 1920? Which system do you need to make it work?

I found it here with the full EX manual in 5 languages

import the clip to the browser software, then export to a new folder as .mxf file
these two files are 25mb 1080 50i, at 1440 1080 so they play fine, but they look pretty lousy when downconverted in Edius to SD. ( I'm looking at this component thru the NX into a JVC DTV HD Tube monitor with 1000 line horizontal resolution ) Its the olde jaggis deal but now much worse - maybe the detail is set to high on the EX.

Currently downloading one 50i file. Good enuf to play with in OCHI.
Has anyone come across 24p or 60i EX1 footage on the webbernets yet?

Will Edius Pro open .mp4 or .mxf?
Not ready to shell out for broadcast until I get my hands on a camera.

Don't get your hands on the camera, you won't let it go without a fight, unless you paid for it. It excels on all aspects except for weight/balance. It will be hard to beat.

well, I have Broadcast which works well with .mxf files, I just downloaded a test file, shot at 35mb HQ 1920x1080 - plays a treat, looks good too, the main issue for me was chromatic aberration, using Z1's and even HDCam often produced very poor results in this department, ( down to the lens' ). The EX however looks very clean, it also has CA reduction with its wide angle lens built in - cool.

I also notice that these files show focus maintained throughout the field of vision, Z1's are seriously soft away from the centre third, I guess the Fujinon lens has made an impact here.

                    Dang!

Oh Yah???... them's fightin' woids! I say," let's max out a couple of credit cards for two of these puppies!"

Edius Pro does not open .mp4 or .mxf :-(

QT does not recognize these .mp4 files.

MS Media Player 11 reluctantly plays, jerkily, but looks fantastic.

                    Can't wait for once.

I tried it yesterday, and yes, it's worth maxing the credit cards, once the workflow gets established.

I'm lookin at this file in full HD mode - looks great, but not too sure about the down convert to SD - just made a 1920x1080 Canopus HQ file, which looks identical, now to try a Procoder downconvert to SD HQ - here goes!

How have you made the 1920x1080 Canopus HQ file?

right click the file in the bin and hit convert... it makes a 1920x1080 1.0 pixel aspect file

I can't really see any difference between a Procoder 3 converted file from 1920x1080/50i to 720x576 PAL and the direct timeline output from the original file played in SD, its just that each time I switch back to SD it all looks horrible, which of course SD does!
