Boy oh boy, did you hit that on the nose. I have a client coming in Monday and I have to do 30 moving alpha logos with a dissolve-inANDout glow. I've done this for over 12 years on the timeline in other editing systems. I would hate to leave Edius, but I may have no choice because of this MAJOR fault. At least to me.

I think TitlemotionPro is fine in Edius.

Granted it is not quite as easy as a plug in but hardly worth choosing your NLE over.

I agree Pat. Zaxwerks is excellent and very quick. Photoshop CS3 extended will do titles along the way of After Effects (for those who do not use After Effects), and then of course After Effects. Titles that I get from there are pristine and output to whatever codec, or uncompressed, I need.

Leaving Edius over the titling package is ridiculous. I could see leaving over something like....alpha support.

I do undestand that you don´t have a SDK for 4.5, and maybe there
wont be one. But I must admit I really like the Mercalli plug, and would
love to have more of these specialised plugs to play with inside edius

anyway I am a happy edius user.

    Whats the Mercalli plug?

I've already said as much as can be said on the issue of plug-in support for third party developers.

Simply put, opening up the doors is certainly something that some of us within GV would love to do, but it requires a system for external developers to liason with our own EDIUS development team to be established, along with any necessary licensing issues and SLAs for software dev kits (and indeed, a finished, documented SDK for EDIUS 4.x, which currently does not exist for any old third party to pick up and run with).

So yes, we want more plug-ins. And no, it won't happen anytime 'soon.'

The wheels are turning, but ultimately, you must make the choice - I always suggest that you buy a product on what it can do today, not what it might do next week.

Best of luck out there if you are going HD, thats where I came from and it will take more than the poor titling ability of Edius to send me back.
I see no problem with starting another program just for a title which lasts a max of 10 second. I use either Boris RED, Title Deko remember that one? its only in SD but when placed in a title track behaves really well. Still only as a Targa file.

Boris is magic for those rolling credits and has a 121 pulldown to stop the jitters.

Just a word of warning with Bluff Titler, yes I use it but on my laptop and transfer the file across on a LAN because the DirectX version required causes Edius to disappear when starting Boris RED as a filter or transition. Easily fixed by going back with "System restore", when all programs become VISTA compatible this problem will probably go away

I will buy the Bluff plugin if he makes it.
And maybe over time it could be develope into a sort
of aimation program within Edius...why not?

The more sofidticated plugin we can run inside edius, the
more time we safe, and the more apealing the edius solution
    will be.

If I was owner of GV I would invite independent software developers
to make highend plugs for edius and give all the support needed.

Thanks Emmanuel for taking your time to push the buttons.

    started a topic Title Woes

    Title Woes

A few weeks back, I started a thread re Bluff Titler plug-in for Edius. I wrote to the software developers and got a resonce the same day from Micheil who was very eager to develop a plug-in with the co-operation from GV.

Since then, I requested the plug officially in the wish list section of this forum. Unless I've missed something, all I haveseen grom GV is a poll asking users here to vote on development for the bluff plug.

    PLEASE go here and vote

Next year, I will be going HD but I'm sad to say if GV can't offer me a better option than quicktitler [QT], I will be dropping Edius. It simply doesn't cut it compared to other software out there. I'm not sure how GV expect users to maintain high standard production with QT.

Please GV, do something. And an open reply to my request may be the curteous thing to do.
