  • Edius 8 workgroup install

I have already download the Edius 8 workgroup. Till now I run the latest 7 version but I think its time to go to Workgroup.
Any advice on how to have a clean install of everything but keep some of the presets I have in version 7 or some plugings? I tried to find a post from Anton who was telling a way of doing it but I can not find it.
Shall I copy the Edius folder before unistall? Can I copy paste then some subfolders?
    Thank you

simply uninstall 7 (leave all folders and plugins behind, they don't harm 8 since 8 installs in its own folder)

Anton I found your old post.....

      1. Uninstall EDIUS 7.x

      2. Use windows explorer to delete two folders
      C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley
      C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley
Note: this will delete your profile, keyboard shortcuts , project presets, device presets and any custom effects, this is important because it is best to create fresh

      3. Do not delete the Grass Valley folder in program files in case you wish to copy/paste existing plugins

      4. Install EDIUS 8 and reboot

      5. Start EDIUS 8 and enter the workgroup serial, then click skip to create user ID, you don't need one (but you can create one later from the EDIUS help menu if you get bored one day)

      6. Reboot

      7. Copy/paste third party plugins from program files, grass valley, EDIUS7 to EDIUS8 and they will work right away

      8. Get used to the new interface

      9. If unhappy, pour yourself a wine or wait for EDIUS 9

Shall I delete the folders you are talking for?

When I go to unistall Edius 7 it asks

        Performe the deactivation

        Perform the deactivation later

        What shall I do?
They gave me an activation code for Edius 8 so shall I perform deactivation?

            I usually don't deactivate 7.5 because I install 7.5 right after installing 8 WG

but if you no longer need 7.5 on your PC, deactivate it

Why installing 7,5when you have 8? Do they have differences? Is there An impotant reason for installing 7,5 as well?

EDIUS 8 and 7.5 might run smoothly on the same PC. However, in order to install EDIUS 8 you need first to unistall EDIUS 7.x and re-install it, after you have completed the EDIUS 8 installation.

I also prefer the version 7 interface and if there is no need to use 8 (so far there isn't) I use 7.......
