    YES!

It is working via "timelines-export-generate New AAF"
Edius can now load the color corrected files.

But another problem now appeared... I export AAf from Edius TYPE 4 in the setting area.
I go to Resolve import the AAF and during playback it shows me some frames of the file and then a red film stripe with an exclamation mark. video file is 1920x1080 25p and Resolve project settings are the same.
    Any idea?

What happens if you play that file outside of Resolve? Is it the correct file or has it linked to the wrong one. Can you post a screen shot showing the icon?

Its the same. If I go frame by frame using the arrows in timeline in resolve, there is no problem. If I hold one for long enoung like its playing...or hit the space bar to play then I got that image. After export its the same. It gives me a few seconds of the file and then the red film stripe with exclamantion mark appears.
And it is link to the correct one....Whatever change I will make in resolve concenring color correction now its ok in Edius. You helped me solving that one.

I am not sure what you mean. Are you saying you can grade it and export it and the results back in EDIUS are ok? If so resolve is probably just having problems keeping up when playing. If not then it is something else.

It had something to do with the video files I fed resolve.
I tested again with some 50i footage and everything is PERFECT.
Whatever I did in resolve it came back in Edius as it was supposed to come. GRADED!!!!

So David & Dave thank you so much.....!!!!!!!

            PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These screenshots reveal the same problem I have with Edius and it's AAF export when using the QT GV HQX codec option.

In screenshot 2 of 5 in this post from George is the video file "GK5_0585" but notice also a copy with "_0" tagged onto it's name.

In screenshot 5 of 5 (his Resolve timeline), it shows only a single combined video and audio clip but consisting of "GK5_0585" for the video and "GK5_0585_0" for the audio.

              Why?

Since both these clips are identical I found in such a case that only one of the pair is necessary, proven by deleting all the "_0" clips before use when Resolve happily continues to show combination video and audio clips.

I am just using George's clip numbers here as an example of what happens to me. With many clips I find it rather a waste of time to to render out duplicate clips (taking twice as long) only to immediately delete those copies. Is there something wrong with the current Edius AAF?

One more thing, for me and from his screenshots I suspect the same for George.. if the upper or lower parts of that clip in his Resolve timeline are clicked individually I bet it will reveal they are not "linked", so trimming in Resolve will certainly not be straightforward.

So far I find an EDL export from Edius the only way to ensure Resolve timeline clips are properly linked.

                Sorted?

Replying to my own post, after an hour or two I have now discovered some conditions a Type 4 AAF creates unnecessary duplicate files.

1/ It happens when a VA track is used.

2/ It does NOT happen when separate video and audio tracks were used in the initial creation of the sequence.

Should an attempt be made to copy or move the clips from the VA track to separate V and A tracks then the following seems to apply...

3/ The AAF still creates duplicate clips after copying the video and audio from the VA track to separate V and A tracks (in the same sequence) including after turning off the VA track.

4/ It still happens after copying the video and audio from the VA track to separate V and A tracks in a NEW sequence. !!!

5/ It does NOT happen if the clips on the VA track (which may be trimmed) are first added to a new bin, and from that bin to separate V and A tracks in a NEW sequence.

                Hurray!

Furthermore, with options 2 or 5 the resultant clips on the Resolve timeline now have the video and audio properly "linked".

Will see if this still holds tomorrow.

I have not tried this at all although I have seen the double clips on export, and just lived with it.

There is setting in application - timeline called "reset pan settings when audio clips are moved to other tracks". Does it make any difference moving clips on VA tracks with this ticked?

Regarding importing AAFs into Resolve, I have had audio and video clips not being linked in Resolve importing AAF and XMLs from other programs like Premiere Pro. I routinely go through a timeline, select audio and video, and link them.

I just tried this and the answer is it makes no difference.

BTW, manually linking the separated V and A clips in the Resolve timeline is not something I ever found out how to do other than one clip at a time so if you have the secret please tell...

I do it one at a time. The average timeline I send to Resolve for grading is 3-4 minutes so it is not too hard.

I see... not so easy with many short clips then. I did try selecting all then linking and Resolve timeline became a single clip, ha!!!

To add a caveat to what I described above, when a new sequence is used with separate V and A tracks, should the audio be 2 channel stereo I found that two mono audio tracks are required, one for each channel. Failing to do this and just putting both channels onto a single stereo track, for reasons not clear to me, results in the output clips having 2 audio channels but with chl 2 silent.

Other than that caution my new workflow seems to be working fine now.

BTW, like you I also do not use an AAF to return to Edius, I prefer to export the graded Resolve timeline as V/A clips to a new folder and also prefer to use Avid QT DNxHD format since it handles super whites unlike QT GV HQX. I work in Data mode in and out, so when my grade is back in Edius the highlights are not missing. Of course this is not for broadcast.

Here it is George, note in the options section you will probably need to select "Video" or "Auto" for levels, not "Data" which I use for a reason.
