Need help setting project for dual mono imported tracks.

I need to setup a project so my reporters can simply import clips with atereo audio and have them appear on a timeline with 2 separate mono centered tracks. Right now i must go into the clip properties and select which audio track i want to use.

Set the mapping of the timeline to mono.

If this is how you always edit it is best to modify the project preset so that every project/sequence starts with those settings. In EDIUS 8 you can also save project templates.

I also need to be able to hard pan tracks left or right so I can playout during my newscast.

That is done automatically with that setup. Did you at least try it?
We abide by broadcast setup 1=L 2=R 3=L 4=R and so on.

Steve has explained how to do it. This is how hundreds of broadcast stations do it. Are you dong news editing at a station or are you a Production type that is submitting commercials or programs for air?
