  • I want the BINS to stay where I left them!

OK I am loving EDIUS and its quirky nature BUT man can you edit quick once you get into it..........problem is I am doing to much for the price I am charging!! I am just getting CREATIVE with the edit.............................

    BUT

I would like the BIN WINDOWS TO STAY WHERE I LEAVE THEM!!!!

I make a tree in the bin window with all my folders:

    TAPE 1
    TAPE 2
    TAPE 3
    MUSIC
    FX
    MATTS

    and so on

AS I edit I will go to various bins to pickup my clips effect ect

NOW as I go from too each bin I would like the bin sliders to say where I left them instead of having to scroll up and down to find where I am for the next clips I need and so on. Is there a way to do this.........

    Cath,

I was just experiencing the same issue with a load of clips in one bin, each time I go back to pick up the next clip I need, I'm back at the top and have to search down 80 clips again - grrrr, its always been this way, but it would be real cool if they stayed put!

I just loaded several clips and I scrolled down to grab a clip and place it on the timeline. When I went back to the bin it was where I left it. Could you let me know the exact steps that cause it to go back to the top?

OK load into a bin more clips than your bin size can show you......you now have a scroller on the right to navigate the bin up an down.

Now scroll to the middle of all your clips in the bin.

Now click on another bin in the bin tree say your fx bin or anything else you may have

Then click back to the bin with your video clips in and the scroller is back at the top

so to get to the place you were at you need to scroll all the way down and this happens all the time with ALL bins.

Its ok if you only have 1 or 2 3 4 or 5 large files BUT I have 160 files from 1 tape when batch captured and its a pain

Can you help? id there a setting

            Thanks for reply GrassValley_MD

What version are you using? On my laptop I just did exactly what you described and it didn't go back to the top.

it also jumps to the top for me, using 4.54

using dual monitors, maybe that is what causes it?

This happens to me too - no dual monitor set up. Its annoying when you have like 50 vid clips, and multiple folders.

Mike' spent too much time at ESPN lately...

Yes, my bin does the scrolly-doodle dance back to the top too!
                      Definitely a pita.
Definitely worth a post to the Feature Requests.

Change your last-used clip color to "red"... easy enuf to find. Lousy workaround for now.

I can't get it to go to the top on my Laptop.

I am opening several folders / opening the folder with 30 clips in it / I am then scrolling down to near the bottom of the list / I then go to the effects palette (sharing the bin) / I add and effect / go back to the bin.

When I do this the bin was right where I left it. Same folder and same position on the file side.

                        Weird.

                          Already requested a while ago.

If you switch between the effects window and the bin, the bin stays at the same place, but once you switch folders, it jumps to the top.

I've been using the clip color workaround for a while now.

Please guys, browse through the feature requests forum and vote for the features. It is several pages long.

Try it when you have a couple hundred clips of similar content and you have it sorted some funky way....like by duration. 50 is easy to deal with.

BTW...it happens to me too. I'm annoyed by it frequently but figure that is just the way things are.

I prefer to capture my vids at 1hr durations - but when I get an external job from a timeline dumper, its like you say 50 - 100 or more annoying clips!!!! Like Dave, I use the clip colours to help.
