Help - can't move video on the timeline

I have no idea what I've accidentally pressed, but now when I try to drag a clip left or right, it won't move the clip, it just creates a selection box with the mouse

how do I fix?

Have you accidently locked the track? Is the cursor black and a lock icon next to it?

somehow the laptop scroll pad got stuck down so it was locked down and the mouse couldn't move.. Thank you for trying to help
(never happened before so not sure how it did happen)

Hit F2 to take it out of that mode.
