What Project Type for 1024x576 Files?

Just been asked to edit and reconstruct a video by ripping the files off a DVD. When I convert it says that the files are 1024 x 576 (PAL), so I assume square pixels.

Just wanting to know what my Edius project settings should be as I've never had to work with this aspect ratio before. My usual projects are 1920x1080. Do I just create a new project template as 1024x576?? Tried doing this but it seems that I'd have to create a custom template.

Thanks Anton. So it's just a SD project then? The wedding was filmed in 2013 and no idea what type of camera was used and what format it was filmed in. When I rip the files what should I output to? My program asks what format the original file is and says that it is H264. Can this be right?

Ok. Maybe my DVD ripper program isn't very accurate then. I've never used Edius to rip from DVD via the Source Browser, but I'll try that. Just want to make sure I get the right format.

Should the Edius project settings be SD PAL 720x576 50i or 25p? It would be much easier if I had filmed it myself then I would now the camera settings used.

a PAL DVD is always 50i upper field and never 25p

the source browser does not always work for ripping since EDIUS 6, try your luck

The only reason I suggested 25p is because this other prog insists it's an H264 file. But ripping via source browser seems to work ok and creates MPEG files.

yes, I was just pointing out the Pal DVD specs, interlaced, upper field first

however, the EDIUS disk burner will not allow making a DVD when project setting is progressive, however the clips can be progressive as you say

EDIUS will set upper field flag for NTSC DVD and PAL DVD
