    HELP!

ok now that I've installed Edius 8 I REALLY can't get Edius to recognize the camera
always set output to "No Select"

unless you plan to print to the camera, which I doubt

    1. you must know if the camera recorded in NTSC or PAL, DV or HDV

    2. once you know the above by viewing playback status in camera viewfinder or settings, make a device preset that matches the recorded tape

    3. be sure the tape is in the camera and in pause or play when you click capture, sometimes it takes 2-3 sec before vision appears

    4. if vision remains gray, it means the device preset does not match the recorded tape or wrong frame rate

    5. also, make sure that if tape is recorded in HDV, the camera output is set to HDV and not to auto
if the tape is recorded in DV, make sure camera out is set to DV and not to Auto

HQ standard is ok and if you have plenty disk space, use HQ Fine

also, be sure the legacy firewire driver is present

As Don said change your settings to 1440 x 1080 (assuming you are using NTSC).
