  • Player window in Edius 8.1

Does the Player window in Edius 8.1 show lower resolution for titles made in Quicktitler than in previous versions?

I have been asked to update an edit carried out a couple of years ago. I have several titles made previously in Quicktitler. These titles look soft in the Player window, which I am sure wasn't the case before.

If I open up Quicktitler, these titles look sharp, and the output file looks sharp. So why should they not look sharp in the Player window?

This project is SD 720x576 PAL

The screenshots are from Edius and Quicktitler. I have used the Layouter to move the text.

Yes, it is high quality in Quicktitler, but low quality in Edius. Not sure if you can see the difference in the screen shots?

The output to disc or file is OK.

I don't use Quicktitler any more, as I have Vistitle and NB Titler Pro, but I was just wanting to modify some footage in an edit from a couple of years ago. Just curious why it looks soft in Edius?

when you say it looks soft in EDIUS, what output hardware were you using to see it soft?

if using EDIUS preview mon, then soft is normal

Thanks Anton, that explains it. I am viewing in Edius, no external monitor. I didn't remember this to be the case in earlier versions of Edius.

Also you may be using an Interlace timeline so the pause picture on the will be half res, unless you have told it to be full res, where as the QuickTiler window will be full quality. If you tell an interlace timeline to show both fields then a paused image will flicker.

yes, I always have pause field set to frame, otherwise titles look like crap when in pause (attacked by mice)

The project is SD PAL 50i.

But the title still looks soft when playing the timeline, not in pause.

At the moment the Pause is set to Lower Field. It looks a little better in Upper Field when paused.

This is not that important because I dont usually use Quicktitler. I just wanted to know if something had changed between Edius 6.08 (when the video was created) and Edius 8.1WG when re-editing?
