  • MULTICAM MODE added audio HISS or SHSHSHSHS?

I have just started to use the multi cam function in EDIUS 4.5 NOT 4.52 yet

    The process

bring in 2 steams of footage One with GOOD AUDIO the other with WIND NOISE bad wind noise infact This was a long shot camera outside

    But on VA1 and VA2

Then good audio on AUDIO TRACK and SYNC then switch to multicam mode with audio on VA1 and VA2 muted.

    AND MIX

ALL going well, I have come to continue this morning and there is a HISS / SHSHSH noise with the audio that was good.

So I RE-ADDED the good audio and deleted the good audio with the shshsh noise.

Hey presto...............but after switching to MULTICAM MODE its back the shshshs on the good audio...........?

I am a little fustrated, where could this be getting picked up from?

    any ideas

Does the sound continue after you're out of Multicam mode?
Are you hearing this in headphones or speakers. I hear lots of drive access sounds with headphones.

Are you mapping your audio to "A" tracks? (Not A/V tracks)
You may find the culprit there!

      OK

It would seem an MP3 music track was the culprit but not in the versinity on another track but same project? anyway changed track to a wave file and all is ok.

I dont think EDIUS likes mp3 this is not the first time I have had a glich with EDIUS and mp3 audio

        No surprise...

        I use .mp3 for non-essential work.
        Music-defined edits require .wav.

I'll bet you're hearing extra disk access to decode .mp3
Rendered output should not have the noise.

.mp3 to .wav is the same.
.wav to .mp3 can be lossy, but who's listening?

.wav is uncompressed (right?) and has no timeline/edit lag.

You can make compressed WAVs, but generally speaking WAVs are PCM uncompressed.
