  • how do I....

    do this:
    (for reference, think wedding recaps)
In Edius 6, I could take a clip off the timeline that had no audio associated with it and put it into the bin. When I took it out of the bin to put it back on the timeline, the audio would be gone, just video there.
NOW, I do this and the audio for the WHOLE CLIP - the entire full clip, not the snippet I'm using - is on the timeline as well.
Yes, I can unlink. But it's going to take tons of time and I liked this method as mentioned above.

Is there a stupid button someplace or setting that I can reset this the way I want?

    Thanks!
    S.

Why not just turn off all of the audio patches (mapping) before you bring the lip to the timeline?

Sometimes I need to throw the video clip back into preview to retrieve the audio that I accidentally erased. while the video stays clipped in the audio track comes in full length. how do I deal with that.

QIWO...Q to go to the In point, click I to recreate the In. Hit W to go to the Out point, click O to recreate the Out point. Now you have both the Video and Audio.

BTW, please do not hijack someone less thread. Make your own.

          ok - tell me how...
I see what you mean - SO: The clips I choose are in the finished edit of the body of the wedding. I pick and choose the clips I like, drag them to the bin, then bring them ALL down onto the timeline as one massive group, sans all audio. In 6, I could do that. Now what you are saying is to bring these clips down without audio mapping - right???

ok - where is that setting/how? I looked in SETTINGS but see no audio map... I thought it may be "reset pan settings..." under user settings>application>timeline but that didn't work.

YES. yes I do. You are right, many changes. Gimme tutorials! LOL

dam. that simple - and YES, I know about that. Did not know the nomenclature (mapping). And, would not have thought of that since it didn't work that way in 6.... so thanks for the heads up.

Believe me guys, i can edit rings around people, but the techy side gets me every time. I need a Clippy.

This has nothing to do with tech. It's just about re-training yourself. There have been a lot of changes to the program since Edius 6.08.

                  Just to clarify.
Those are patches. They dictate to which tracks audio and video on the timeline.
They also turn things on and off for a drop on the timeline.
Mapping 'routing of the audio is done in the sequence settings. :)

just messed around with that... cool.
Just when I think I got a handle on all this, nope.
I need a class on "all that extra cool stuff this system does that you never use".

                      JUST SO YOU KNOW:

In 6, I could select several clips and place them on the timeline with no spaces between them... they would be next to each other.

In 7, not so much. No audio, thanks for that tip, but now they space out on the timeline, looks like it's in relation to the missing audio.

makes it harder to edit, having to drag the clips from wayyyyyy down the timeline. So I messed around and did this:
I "set as a sequence" the clips I wanted - no, cant use this as i need to edit each one separately. I "canceled sequence" and dragged the clips to the timeline... and NOW they clump together in a bunch, easy to edit.

                      WEIRD *** work around.
                      Is there another way?

That can still be done, must be something at your end.
But you can just press back space immediately after you have dropped them. (this is not new)

Are you doing it this way?
                          multiple clips.mp4
Did I understand what you wanted to do? It's the same in 7.5 or 8.x.
