  • Blueray capacity?

I have an Edius 6.5 timeline that is 2hrs 21 minutes long. Project is 1080i shot with a Sony Nx5. I would like to use the mpg2 codec option as it will process faster in disc burner. The question is will it fit? What is the capacity of the Blueray disc and is there a way to alter the settings in disc burner to make it fit without using the lengthy h.264?
    Edius 6.5, Storm Mobile, Intel i7-3820 3.60Ghz, 16 GB DD3 1600 memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX670, Viewsonic VX2770Smh 27" Monitor. Prevail Elite SSD 120gb -SATA 6Gb/2, Win 7 Pro 64-bit

Never mind.... I think I found the answer. I believe that disc burner will make it fity dropping the biterate. I am hoping the quality drop,is not significant to warrant the need to redo the burn using the h426 (5 hour) method.

It will depend on the content and how much motion there is. The more motion the higher the bitrate needs to be.

I also shoot with NX5U and for me a 2 hour 21 min long program needs to be h264 at about 20 Mbps. On my system exporting using quicksync that would take less than an hour.

If quality is important then you will probably need to bite the bullet and encode as H.264.

A compromise would be to use a system that supports QuickSync. The encoding would be much quicker than a software-only encoding, but the quality won't be as good.

QS Encoding quality was much improved in the Haswell refresh version. There is a difference, but you have to look for it now instead of it being apparent.
