I do not think by the end of October, initially there was talk of the end of September early October, are increasingly disappointed with the promises and the development of this software that I use for several years

The fact that Grass Valley tells us anything about future updates is quite unusual in the software industry. We get a lot of information from the Grass Valley gents that frequent this BBS that normally we wouldn't get through normal channels. Especially if Belden is a publicly held company.

What difference does it make in the long run if it is early or late being released?

I would much rather they delay the release if necessary in order to get it right.

Just my .02 and worth what you paid for it!

Wasn't the official Windows 10 release date July 29, 2015, not a year ago? No prudent vendor would certify support based on a pre-release version of an operating system. Given the long history of Windows in general, there often is stability risk until SP1 is released.

The August 27th press release from GV reads "EDIUS 8.1 will be available as a free upgrade for all EDIUS 8 users in October 2015."

By my calendar there are 18 days left in October.

how it is possible that in a one year from the first release of Windows 10 and by the end of July for the development of the latest improvements that we have managed is very strange ...
NO!!! The press statement from GV in AUGUST said "EDIUS 8.1 will be available as a free upgrade for all EDIUS 8 users in October 2015." No one has ever mentioned September nor any specific date in October.
              October has 31 days.

Apologies my previous post crossed with yours and made exactly the same points.

I also question the sanity of using any OS as a front line business platform, until it has established itself ie SP1. and if it's only needed to evaluate then a few more weeks are immaterial.

                  Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the reactions. October indeed has a few more days. :)

I think there is no reason for raised blood-pressure.
We are working on 8.1 and as you know with any software engineering things have to be tested and fixed during the process.

Just keep monitoring the forum and we will inform everyone when it will go out.
Great to see that you all care. :)

8.1 will be out soooon. So, as Steve suggested, no need to get too excited.

                      update edius 8.1

Thank you and I'm glad that is several participants, each of us is free to express his personal opinion, and yet are not completely agree that we should wait 3 months after the edius 8 to have available a software to be declared compatible with Windows 10 (I'm not talking about changes that could be incorporated later)
Microsoft has just released the Windows 10 operating system preview in October 2014 precisely to overcome this problem of further delays in the development of the software when it would release the final version.
                      Thank you all!

Edius 8 runs quite well on Windows 10 here and so does Edius 7.5 so I think the update will be more to give you a warm feeling than anything else

While it may run fine on your system, others have reported issues. There are under the hood changes for Win 10 that could prevent certain features to not work properly on newer components.

A public Beta a year ago is still a Beta.

As one with some experience in software development and support, and as we have all seen with previous releases of Windows even beyond the SP1 stage, OS patches occasionally break things in application software.

Also fast-running programs have to get close the iron and may depend on internal specifics of the OS, not just the published public API, which is often S L O W.

Also, there is a difference between "it works" and "officially supported."

I will not be interested in Win10 until they release a major update that lets the user disable automatic updates

I have been doing manual updates in all OS so far, never automatic
