Does anyone know why this update is the full version and no updater is available, it took a long time to DL on sloo BT and at half a gig eats into the monthly allowance.

All that lovely kit and a monthly allowance. WTF is that? If you don't yet have Infinity on your area, commiserations, because My BT Infinity delivers 76 Mbs down. The download took a couple of mins.

You lucky fellow all I get from BT is "not yet available in your area" I did complain many times about my 2.5Gb/s download speed and eventually a nice man arrived from 'Open Reach' took a day to put me on an alternative pair to give me 7.5Mb/s not long before I got capped to 5.5Mb. but often less.
Anyway this is not the place to discus such problems your answer is unhelpful and irrelevant.

It is a good question that I already asked and I am awaiting an answer

the DL version is not ideal for me because the update fails due to the fact that it wants to remove my 7.5 first, which means I have to reinstall it again after updating 8

this would not be the case if an update was available like in the past

Anton, are you running 7.5 and 8 on the same drive- didn't think that was possible due to shared files.

yes I am, there is nothing shared, EDIUS7 and 8 have all their unique folders, they work perfectly alongside each other and projects are interchangable

you just need to install 7.5 after 8 and everytime you update 8, 7.5 will be removed because of the lack of updater version

That must be the first time you could run two versions on the same drive.

Can you rename the Edius 7.5 folders before updating 8 ?

(Can't test at the moment. Still waiting for license key and trail expired a while ago.)

no that won't work, the E8 updater sees 7.5 in the license manager and in the registry, it would get messy

I rather uninstall 7.5 without deactivating and update E8, then quickly install the latest full installer of 7.5

I do it in my sleep now but would welcome a faster solution in the future

                            could be several reasons

                            1. you have a corrupt download of v89
                            2. you did not empty the temp folder after reboot prior to running the updater

it could be that the trial version is not allowed to be updated

could you try again once you have it activated?
