  • JVC 600 and Edius

Attached are two snapshots of a file made by the JVC 600. Last week I update the firmware from 3.06 to 4.0 for the camera. A strange phenomenon is occurring during playback on the Edius timeline. The video appears to be very jumpy but the audio is fine. Brought into premiere pro and all seemed fine. WMP plays fine. It only appears in Edius. Can anyone explain this?

    Thanks,

Tried upper, lower and progressive all yielding the same result. I have attached media info on a file created by the camera just before the firmware update and all looks the same. I can only conclude that the firmware corrupted something? Could the flash band correction have something to do with it. In the menu it is on.

Just got off the phone with JVC and firmware 4.0 seems to have issues with the field order in older versions of Edius. The problems are only with SD files and there is no fix at this time. Anyone else experience the same issue?
              Thanks,

Try right click the file on the time line click properties and charge the field order on that file in there and hit play.

and if that solves it, you can change the field order of all selected files in the bin in one hit (when in text view, not thumbnail view)

Thanks for all your help but it is a known issue with JVC and right now there is no fix. Imported into PP and all is well. No worries Edius is still my #1 NLE.

3 people have suggested you change the field order of the clip (which would be the first thing to check when a clip is shimmeing/jumpy) - never mind what JVC tell you have you tried what was suggested here? As Anton says it can be fixed in ONE Mouse click. I cannot believe if the clips plays in PPro it cannot be made to play in Edius.

With all due respect if you read the entire thread you would have seen that it was tried and failed. As far as JVC is concerned that is what the person stated to me on the phone. They have gotten several calls from Edius users.
                        Thanks,

I had followed the entire thread and it was by no means clear if you had tried swapping fields and project settings in various combinations. Additionally it was suggested by Mike you upload a clip, I don't see that either with all due respect.

The reason for why you should change the field order in the file by using right click and properties has to do with wrong information on the field order in the file.
So by changing it to the right field order in the file gives Edius the right info to play the file the right way.
And as Anton mentioned, it is so easy to do all of them at the same time with just one click.
Just try one and then change the rest when you find the right field.
