EDIUS 7.5 Pro - Transition Question

Under EDIUS 5.51, whenever I apply a transition filter, it applies to the clip on the left and right of the boundary. (LEFT and RIGHT - as I see it, looking on the screen).

I noticed under EDIUS 7.5, the transition filter is only applied to the clip on the RIGHT. It does not merge the clip on the LEFT. How do I make the behavior the same as EDIUS 5.51?

Just drag it to the center of the two clips. Make sure you have Extend clips when applying transition/crossfade checked in Settings>User Settings>Application>Timeline.

If you are dragging the transition to the timeline, place it directly in the center between the two clips and then let go of the mouse button.
If you are using a dissolve(default transition), place the cursor between the two clips and then click the Transition button on the timeline header.

Looking at your photo, your second clip is not trimmed, so there are no additional frames to make the transition. In that case you would have to Uncheck that box, or leave it checked and trim the clip before dragging the transition down to the it.

BTW, here are my settings. Note that the second and third boxes are unchecked (I want manual control over those). Also note Ripple mode off.

Thanks ... that's what I am doing. But the dissolve only seen on the "right" side of the clip (as you can see from my screen capture). I must be doing it wrongly.

yes, agreed, I see the gray triangle of the untrimmed clip in his screenshot

Sorry for this "stupid" question - but, how do I get rid of the triangle then? I tried to cut off one frame, move the clip into the gap, but, after I done that, it does not allow me any transitions. I must be doing something very wrong. Never encountered this in EDIUS 5.51 before.

if the transition has a duration of 24 frames, you need to trim 12 frames or more from either end of the clips if the clips are fully extended

try this, add a clip to timeline, cut it in the middle, add a transition, this must work they way you visualize

or you can disable the extend clips option and all transitions will end up one the clip before the cut point
