    Steve,

By that, do mean register my new E8-Workgroup serial number with my other registered products at Edius Support, or must I actually install and activate it?

If so, I'll have to build or buy a computer that is capable of using it!
    Regards,

    Jon

If my information is correct you need to install the workgroup serial because the "pro serial number" will no longer work for any EDIUS install (after 14 days) .
You are getting workgroup as a replacement for Pro. It is not a pro and workgroup deal to explain it simple.

Important wait for the Workgroup number. If you install Edius 8 Pro first you will have to uninstall and reinstall Workgroup. Workgroup IS NOT an upgrade from Edius Pro 8.

You don't have to reinstall . Features get activated by serial number.

A while ago received the first Edius 8 WG serial number. Great deal indeed! Thank you GV and dedicated people behind this forum!

Just to make sure once again - is following assumption correct: the received Edius 8 WG serial number will not expire even though the first installation will be done several months later.

              Steve,

              I'm a blond, and maybe I'm a little dense.

If I understand correctly, this what you are saying:

              1. E8 Pro must be installed and activated on a computer before August.

              2. The E8 Workgroup upgrade must then be installed afterward.

              3. I can't simply keep my E8-Workgroup downloaded ZIP file and serial number and install them at some point in the future when I have a computer capable of running it.

              Do I have it right?
              Regards,

              Jon

I just called the GV Support folks in USA, and was told I can install E8-Workgroup any time in the future, as long I have the downloaded installation file and serial number given to me by GV.

The email that I did receive containing the link to download the E8-W file asked that I download it within 14 days, though, which I already have done.
                Regards,

I also downloaded and registered my serial number too. Will not install for a few weeks until projects are finished.

As I said your Pro license will no longer work after 14 days (read deactivated). So Yes you can input your workgroup serial on your current system or install workgroup on a new system later but then you won't have a working EDIUS install after 14 days and the "later".

I am just trying to explain the correct way to go about this before you see this. So you are informed and there are no surprises. So no complaining when it happens. :)

Ths is basically done so that you cannot get 2 separate licenses (one Pro and one Workgrouo) for the price of one.

                        I understand, thanks.

As I wrote above, I have not even downloaded the Pro version, nor used its serial number, nor have I registered the Pro serial number with Support.

As far as I'm concerned, my E8-Pro is already gone.

I'm just saving the Workgroup install file and its serial number for the future.
                        Regards,

yes, the Workgroup serial is permanent, you can install EDIUS 8 at any time this year or next and it will work. No need to ever use the Pro serial.

                            Anton,

One of these days, I'm actually going to build a computer that can actually run Windows 7, 8 or 10! Or even Edius 6.5, 7 or 8!

Stuck in the past, here in sunny Sandy Eggo.

                            Cheers!

Most interesting I was definitely told otherwise. The advice I got was wait for the workgroup number first. As your position states you are not an official Edius person so cannot be held to account for wrong information, I will therefore wait as instructed by my other source which is accountable for errors. Personally I would bet that you are correct.
