  • Will windows 10 require me to update to edius8?

There is simply too much talk going on recently to read / search all topics about software updates. I apologize upfront in case this has been answered already:

I am at edius 7.5. When windows 10 becomes available by the end of July, can I install that and keep working in Edius 7.5?

I do not have the time at the moment to make an informed decision about upgrading to edius 8 and getting the workgroup version for free.

Edius 8 is not certified for Windows 10 yet. If Edius is your
NLE, I would wait for certification prior to doing anything with Windows 10.
I will have to spend a weekend making new drives and clones for all of my systems and I only want to do this once.

With the way that Microsoft intend to push it out 'windows update' style I wouldn't have thought you would have to reinstall any applications.
Though if the application continues to work after Windows is upgraded is another matter.

I'm guessing you have been offered the upgrade via the 'taskbar' thing now that is supposed to have scanned the PC to see if it's compatible as far as I can tell, but this is Microsoft and they don't have the best track record of not breaking things.

I'm going to upgrade to Windows 10, but think I may wait a couple of weeks for other people to uncover the bugs and gotchas

I've been running the beta from a clean install. I've never liked 'upgrades' and will do full installs once the program is in full swing and Edius 8 is Win 10 certified.

I did an upgrade from Win 8.1 to 10 a week or so ago as a test, then imaged it back a few days later as it made my system awful to use. I would always recommend a clean install but just wanted to see how bad doing an upgrade would be so I know what to expect when customers start doing it themselves and then complain about their systems being slower.

Niemand weet of het werkt op de RTM versie van Windows 10.

Op de technische preview die ik nu gebruikt werkt het stabiel met hardware......

The O.P. Is not asking for certification.
just want to know if it works, supported or unsupported is not always that use full as even supported software / hardware still contain bugs and problem :)

Under the hood Win 10 isn't really any different from Win 8.1, and I've found 7.5 seems to work fine, although I haven't tested every single thing in 7.5
